Red monkey tavern raleigh menu
Food overpriced for what it was. Food was great, but very slow service. Our waitress was fairly absent. Miss the curry shrimp dish! Service was extremely slow. Food was good. Only got three rounds of drinks in 2. Went on a Friday night around and they were very empty. So much so that there was only one waiter and one greeter whom we had to wait for.
The waiter was still great but he was so rushed between our table and the others that he was almost running to give us good service. The owner came by to invite us to watch a belly dance performance that someone had hired for his birthday out in the mall but I never saw him again.
Nice, but not why we were there. One of the female employees was holed up in the only bathroom stall with toilet paper for nearly ten minutes. IDK what she was doing but she had the stall door open when I walked in and closed it quickly.
I waited patiently and listened while she shuffled papers, plastic and clothing. Finally I had to ask if there was another female to address the empty stall since she wasn't coming out. They never did and when I went back five minutes later, she'd packed up her stuff.
My husband's food was okay, he had the Puerto Rican Platter which wasn't anything special at all. I had the Jerk Chicken and the spice level was okay, but it tasted as if someone had dropped the whole canister of salt onto my dish.
They replaced it with the street tacos which turned out to be good. Unfortunately I think they were ready for us to go because my beans and rice came out in plastic take out containers on my plate. All in all, not worthy of a return visit for us. Should have gone next door to the Cheesecake Factory. Our sweet tea tasted bitter. Almost as if it was a day old- the waitress laughed when I said this. Horrible service.
Not a good dining experience. We were there for our daughter's 27th birthday. The food and quality of the food was not worth the price on the menu, not even close. No bread for the soup though it was advertised as coming with bread , all of the food did not come out at the same time for the party of four that we were.
Waiter was doing his best to make up for the lack of decent food and timing. We will not go back again. The customer service was horrible I will never go here to eat again!!!! Great Latin food, Good ambiance, live Latin music, good drinks. Fun Atmosphere. Will return!!! They were literally out of things that were features on the menu. The drinks were not as great as they were described. Overall this place as potential but was lacking as of today.
I have never eaten at the red monkey and for my first visit I received poor service, unportioned food, and disorganization from more than one employee. We have had bad service the past 2 times we have been there. We will not go back. Elizabeth Was great and her suggestions for food were even better.
Go check it out. Love the atmosphere of the red monkey. We walked in for lunch with a reservation through open table. The host people were a little confused when they went to seat us. It took forever for the waiter to come greet us and order our drinks. We ordered nachos. We order 15 mins after the nachos. Once the nachos came out they were cold and had hardly any cheese on them. And anything was layered. It was gross. We asked to have them sent back for a new batch.
Eeeeh we were not satisfied. Food was great, our server really enjoyed his job and very courteous. Would totally go back again We went here with the highest expectations having passed by the establishment several times while at the mall.
Our interest was peaked by the perceived ambiance and service. We made a reservation through open table, and upon arrival we were promptly seated. As we waited looking over the menu, our delight turned to absolute disappointment when it took 15 minutes for our server to even address us and to get our drink orders.
Then it was another 15 minutes before the drinks came to the table a full half hour ; this was with an excuse that he was told that other tables were seated before us which was untrue.
This was clearly poor management. We were asked if we were ready to order, and we replied that we wanted to start with an appetizer. It seem to be rushed. We specifically asked if the appetizer would not come out with the entrees, but it basically did. We had to indirectly address the manager through the hostess to effectively get plates to eat our appetizer, when the manager address the request over 5 minutes later, he was gracious and apologized for the inconvenience.
This made date night without our kids very frustrating. It was very hard to get service from the server. He would address the table next to us, but then never look at us or check on us. The manager actually apologized for his poor management.
The food was pretty good, but the Cuban sandwich which is listed as their house special was very bland. The monkey nachos starter and tortilla chicken soup were good, and the Reuben was extremely dry. This was pm on a Saturday. Loved the live jazz music with Steve Hobbs! Great setting for jazz. The food here is great, but a little pricey. The buffalo mac and cheese is amazing.
We have been to this restaurant before and enjoyed it. We had some family come to town and asked them to go to the restaurant with us. He came to the table maybe twice. We needed our waiter and asked one of the other waiters to send ours to us. The other waiter very nicely went and told our waiter. Our waiter came out, looked around, and went to the back again. It was pretty important, because one of our party got undercooked food and needed to send it back.
