Even before COVID we knew that all families could use support at the birth of a child, and some things never change. Now more than ever families may be experiencing heightened stress, anxiety, and other obstacles when they are bringing a new child into their home.
During your 2-hour video chat, nurses check on mom, baby, and the whole family. We are so proud of our team for finding innovative ways to reimagine what high quality care and education in our community looks like. Staci Bishopp is a local first-time mom who has been weathering birth and postpartum during the pandemic, and she is thankful for the support Family Connects was able to provide her. Staci, her partner Tim, and their baby Finn all received a virtual visit from a Family Connects nurse earlier this summer.

United Way's Success By 6 program works to make sure every child is ready for kindergarten by improving the complex networks of child care services, parent education, public and private funding and public policy in the Central Texas community.
Member Duties : --Research and catalog regional family support services in order to track local funding and build capacity of the family support service network in Austin --Partner with United Way programs to coordinate community resource trainings for family support service providers --Develop a volunteer engagement opportunity to benefit Austin families and family support service providers --Create a system for sharing parent education resources, and for tracking all parent education utilization across multiple service providers.
Having resources available to them will create a safe and better quality of life for them and our community as a whole. For families to raise healthy children, communities must continuously improve conditions — addressing obstacles like economic security, work flexibility, parenting information and support, and quality child care needs.
